Days 1 – 2: Discover the Namib Desert
The journey begins at Windhoek Airport and a short flight to the Namib Desert. Your destination is Little Kulala Lodge, a stylish thatched lodge set in a private reserve adjoining the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The camp’s 11 luxury suites or ‘kulalas’ are handsomely appointed and offer private plunge pools and a flat roof for star-gazing – you can even arrange for your bed to be made up on the roof for an unforgettable night below the Milky Way.
You’ll enjoy a full day exploring the Namib, taking in the giant dunes of Sossusvlei. Your keen-eyed guide will also point out desert animals and birds, and the day ends with sunset drinks and gourmet dishes served by candlelight.
Days 3 – 4: Big Game on the Skeleton Coast
A newly opened accommodation in an exclusive and remote setting, Skeleton Coast Camp affords travellers access to some of the wildest land in Namibia. Set back from the haunting, surf-pounded beaches of the Skeleton Coast, this beautifully designed lodge takes advantage of its river valley location to offer game drives in search of elusive desert-adapted elephant and black rhino. You’ll also see Cape fur seal colonies and various antelope while birders will tick off local rarities.
Days 5 – 6: The Last Frontier – Koakoland
Flying further north, you reach the Kunene River and Serra Cafema Camp, lying under shady trees. One of Africa’s most off-the-beaten-path accommodations, Serra Cafema offers wildlife viewing by boat along with quad biking, game drives, birding and guided walks. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the local Himba people and learn a little about life in one of the harshest environments in southern Africa. The camp is well appointed and even offers massages, wellness and beauty treatments. Suites have wonderful river views and meals may be taken privately.
Day 7: The Journey Ends
After breakfast at the lodge you’ll transfer to the local airstrip and return to Windhoek for your onward connection. Ask us if you want to add on other regional highlights such as Victoria Falls or Botswana’s Chobe National Park.
