Chobe River

Our Lodges in the Chobe River Region

Chobe lodges provide some of the most luxurious safari accommodations in Botswana – if not southern Africa. They range from air-conditioned riverside hotels to classic thatch and timber lodges as well as lamp-lit tented camps. The standard of service is high and you’ll enjoy expert guiding, great food and wine as well as all the creature comforts – well-appointed suites, private bathrooms and battery recharging points.

There is accommodation in both of the Chobe National Park’s wildlife hotspots: the Chobe River and the Savuti region. Lodges are usually set overlooking water to maximise your game viewing experience. Chobe’s larger accommodations often have a pool, spa and gift shop.

Browse of recommended Chobe lodges below or contact us to find out which lodge is best suited for your requirements and budget. Note that some Chobe River lodges are set away from the river and several Savuti lodges are located some distance from the famous Savuti Marsh – ask us for more information.

THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN CHOBE

1. Go on a Game Drive

Morning & afternoon game drives with expert guides bring the drama of Chobe straight to you: the raised & open-sided vehicles are ideal for photography & you’ll enjoy drinks & snacks too.

2. Cruise the River

An all-year wildlife haven, the Chobe River attracts thousands of elephants & buffalo in Botswana’s dry season. Riverside lodges offer sunset river cruises & game viewing by small motor boat.

3. Track Big Cats & Wild Dogs

Game-rich Chobe is a predator’s paradise & home to healthy populations of lion, cheetah & leopard; it’s also a great place to search for the highly endangered wild dog.

4. Bring the Birding Binoculars

With around 500 bird species, the Chobe Park is an epic bird watching destination, especially in summer when migrants arrive. The Savuti & Chobe River areas are Chobe’s birding hotspots.

5. Take a Table for Two

Many of Chobe’s lodges are as famous for their romantic ambience as they are for their game viewing; intimate camps, luxurious honeymoon suites & plenty of private pampering.

6. Catch-and-Release Fishing

A few select lodges offer catch-and-release fishing in the Chobe River. If you’d like to spend an afternoon casting for bream or wrestling a toothy tiger fish, then come fishing in Botswana.

7. View Rock Art

Indigenous Khoisan hunters left their mark on the landscape: head for Chobe’s Ghoha Hills for well-preserved examples of ancient rock art, bought to life by local guides.

8. Visit Smoke that Thunders

Victoria Falls is only a 2-hour drive from the Chobe River. Pop across the border to either Zambia or Zimbabwe to see the thundering world wonder up close & personal.

Best trip I have ever been on. Highly recommend.

Would highly recommend. Safari online asked questions when booking and were efficient and knew exactly what we were looking for in terms of accommodation and animals were wanted to see. Gave advice on a few little extras with no pressure, which we did and am very grateful which make trip even more exciting. Would definitely recommend booking with them.

Walter has always been an excellent communicator and has supported us fully

We have been to Africa for 24 of the last 27 years so know a bit about what is involved. Walter has arranged the details for the last couple of years, and has done a superb job. He is always quick to respond and comes up with answers immediately……..no evasive tactics, always head-on!

Professional, quick and top of the edge service!!!

From the very first contact we’re very happy about the respond time and quality of information from safari-online.com. Based on the received first tailor-made quote, which is a weblink with all the details about the flights, photos of the lodges etc. we knew that this is “our” partner for this trip. Our expectations were excelled!!!

It was a safari of a lifetime and exceeded all of our expectations!

Our mom grew up in Central and South Africa so we had visited the continent many times. My sister and I wanted to take our teens and husbands to Africa to experience the magic. We had a limited budget but big and specific expectations and by some miracle Walter was able to manage both.

Karina was absolutely instrumental to our safari success.

Our experience with Safari Online was excellent. After becoming very frustrated trying to search for a safari destination on our own, we turned to Karina for help and she was a lifesaver.  We had an amazing safari adventure at the lodge–the experience of a lifetime–and are so grateful for her help. We literally couldn’t have done it without her!
