When to Go
Travel to Mozambique in dry season
Travel to Mozambique during the country’s long dry season to enjoy the best beach weather. The months of May to August are mild, sunny and dry; September to November is warmer and with occasional showers.
This period happily coincides with the best months for diving and migrating marine life: whale sharks from October to March/April; humpback whales between June and October and dolphins in large numbers in June, July and August. It also coincides with the best time of year for big game safaris in South Africa’s Kruger Park, Botswana and Victoria Falls.
The rainy season is at its peak in January and February and into March. The risk of malaria is at its highest and it is cyclone season – especially in Vilanculos and the Bazaruto Archipelago region. Mozambique travel is not recommended at this time.
