Days 1 – 3: Deep into the Delta
After arriving at Maun Airport, you’ll be met and escorted to your shared air charter. Soon the wild expanses of the Okavango Delta open up below you, leading to your home for 3 nights – Xigera Camp. Set at the heart of the permanent wetlands, Xigera has year-round access to glassy lagoons and forested islands ringing with birdsong. You’ll have the comforts of a contemporary suite to look forward to on your return from your activities. Take advantage of your private deck to sit back and relax while the sights and sounds of the Okavango wash over you.
Days 4 – 6: Savuti – the Wild One
Long famous as the place where lions and hyena battle for dominance, Savuti seldom disappoints. Nourished by a single source of water in the dry season, Savuti attracts great numbers of thirsty animals and their predators from May to October. The summer rains however turn Savuti green, and the area now plays host to migrating zebras, elephant breeding herds and ranks of grazing buffalo. Your base is Savuti Camp, set on the Savuti Channel in a private concession. You’ll enjoy day and night drives as well as the opportunity to sleep out in the camp’s photographic hide. If seasonal water levels are high enough, you can even go on a boat safari on the channel for a different perspective on this wild corner of Africa.
Days 7 – 9: Mombo Predators
Known among safari aficionados as one of the best predator hotspots in Africa, the Mombo private concession is explored by 4X4 on morning and afternoon game drives. Besides the big cats, hyenas and wild dogs, it’s also an area of great natural beauty; Mombo Camp takes advantage of its sole-use location to offer unspoilt views and exclusive game sightings. Bird watching is excellent and there is a high density of antelope species and other classic animals. Back at camp you can arrange a massage in the privacy of your tented suite.
Day 10: The Journey Ends
Your safari ends after a short flight back to Maun but with one-stop connections to Victoria Falls and Cape Town available, why not ask us about adding on one of these destinations to your itinerary.
