Itinerary
Days 1 – 3: Discover the South Luangwa
The journey opens with one of the most wildly luxurious lodges in the South Luangwa – Chinzombo. Set in a private concession adjoining the park, the lodge’s six deluxe villas come complete with en suite bathroom, private plunge pool and viewing deck. It’s the perfectly indulgent introduction to the South Luangwa. You’ll be in the hands of experienced guides on game drives and safari walks (there are also spot-lit night drives to look forward to) but there is time to relax, enjoy a bit of yoga or catch up on sleep. Couples will appreciate Chinzombo’s approach to evening dining: wherever you like – with other guests or in romantic privacy.
Days 4 – 5: The Luangwa Safari Experience
Lace up your boots and feel the pulse of Africa under your feet as you hike to your next accommodation. With armed scouts leading the way, you’ll discover the finer details and enjoy big game encounters: it’s the most exhilarating safari experience imaginable. Mchenja Camp soon comes into view, tucked away under ebony trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. The most luxurious bush camp in the South Luangwa, Mchenja lies in one of the best game viewing areas of the park and mixes game drives with walking safaris and night drives. Back at camp you can relax in the plunge pool, select a book or just sit back and watch the wildlife come to you.
Days 6 – 8: To the Zambezi
It takes two flights to the Lower Zambezi but it’s worth the effort: your accommodation – Chongwe River Camp – sits in a private concession where Chongwe River meets the mighty Zambezi. Great numbers of animals are attracted to the area and the result is an exceptional game viewing experience. Enjoy it all from the comfort of a 4X4, a motor boat or for the more adventurous, by canoe as you paddle down the Zambezi accompanied by guides. Additional activities include a visit to a local community and bird watching trips (some 250 species have been recorded in the immediate area). Couples should ask for the lodge’s luxurious Cassia Suite, complete with butler service, private pool and bar.
Days 9 – 10: An Exclusive Victoria Falls Finale
A flight via Lusaka takes you to Livingstone Airport and a transfer to Tongabezi Lodge on the banks of the Zambezi River, a few miles upstream from Victoria Falls. Lodge staff will arrange your complimentary transfer to Victoria Falls but save time for other activities too. This is Africa’s adventure centre and home to everything from bungee jumping and white-water rafting to sunset cruises and helicopter flights. You can even walk with lion cubs or ride on an elephant; back at your lodge you’ll enjoy a sumptuous suite with romantic dining venues, including on the Zambezi itself – pure Tongabezi magic!
Day 11: The Journey Ends
A final breakfast overlooking the Zambezi River starts the day; then it’s a short drive to Livingstone Airport for your onward connection and the end of your tour.
