Itinerary
Days 1 – 3: The Smoke that Thunders
A stylish exclusive-use home, Tangala House has gorgeous views of the Zambezi River as it makes its way to Victoria Falls 15 kilometres (10 miles) away. Fully serviced and furnished with four bedrooms, large living areas, a child-friendly pool and a playground, it is an ideal accommodation for families. A tour of thundering Victoria Falls is a must and you can further explore the area by vehicle or boat with your private guide, returning to a delicious meal prepared by your chef, served indoors or outside as you wish. And with two full days here, there is plenty of time to fit in adventures ranging from white-water rafting to elephant-back safaris.
Days 4 – 6: Explore the Lower Zambezi
Set near the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers and with a mountainous backdrop, Chongwe River House is a uniquely designed accommodation. A four-bedroom private house, its bold architecture incorporates natural elements and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. There is a pool and sun loungers, and you can walk to the jetty to start your water-based safaris. You’ll also enjoy private game drives in the Lower Zambezi National Park, one of Zambia’s prime wildlife destinations and home to large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe as well as big cats and wild dogs.
Days 7 – 9: The Luangwa Experience
After landing at Mfuwe Airport, you sit back on an interesting drive past local villages on the way to Luangwa Safari House, adding a different aspect to your safari. Located in a private wildlife reserve overlooking the South Luangwa National Park, this private house has four bedrooms set over two floors; outside you will find a small pool and plenty of raised decking from which to sit and watch animals at water. A private guide and vehicle means you can arrange your own safari schedule, mixing game drives with nature walks and even a visit to a local community.
Day 10: The Journey Ends
There may be time for a final morning activity after breakfast at Luangwa Safari House, after which you are transferred back to Mfuwe to catch a flight to Lusaka. This safari ends with your arrival at Lusaka International Airport and your further travel arrangements.
