Itinerary
Days 1 – 2: Into the Wild – Mana Pools
The safari begins with your touchdown at a dusty airstrip; Mana Pools National Park has long had a reputation for big game and big drama, and your accommodation – Kanga Bush Camp – is well located to deliver. Set back from the Zambezi River, Kanga Camp sits in a private concession and overlooks a productive waterhole, attracting animals year-round. It’s a camp that specialises in walking safaris but guides also lead day and night game drives in search of elephant, buffalo, zebra and giraffe. It’s also classic predator country – big cats, wild dogs and spotted hyenas are all seen here. Back at camp, your tented suite has a private bathroom and an outdoor deck overlooking the waterhole.
Days 3 – 5: To the River
Focus now turns to the Zambezi River itself. You’ll be in the safe and capable hands of Zambezi Expeditions, a mobile tented camp that is set up along the river as you explore by canoe. Your guide will point out the Zambezi’s wealth of wildlife, ranging from birds and frogs to hippos and crocodiles. Game drives across the river’s vast floodplains add to the drama and you’ll have the chance to try your hand at fishing as well. It’s a more rustic accommodation experience than Kanga but you have everything you need – hot water showers, flush toilets, electric lighting and battery-charging points. At the end of the day you’ll swop safari stories around a camp fire as supper is prepared in the bush kitchen to be served under the stars.
Day 6: The Journey Ends
After breakfast and a last look at the Zambezi River you’ll be driven to an airstrip for a flight back to Victoria Falls and your onward connection.
