Itinerary
Days 1 – 3: Victoria Falls Views
Set on a hill with magnificent views of the Zambezi landscape, Stanley Safari Lodge is the perfect start to a romantic safari. A small and intimate lodge with luxury cottage accommodation, Stanley’s also has a honeymoon suite with private viewing deck and plunge pool. Meals can be enjoyed in your lounge or outside on the deck. A guided tour of Victoria Falls is included in your stay, and with two full days ahead of you, there is every opportunity to make the most of Africa’s ‘adventure capital’. Most Victoria Falls activities are within a 10-minute drive of the lodge.
Days 4 – 7: A Riverside Retreat
Amanzi means ‘water’ in the local language and is a well-chosen name for this camp. Its five tented suites overlook a beautiful stretch of the Zambezi River and your guides will encourage you to explore by boat and canoe as well as on foot and by vehicle. There’s a flexible, personalised approach to your safari at Amanzi, allowing you to mix up activities as you wish. Home to elephants, buffalo and hippo as well as the big cats, the Lower Zambezi is prime big game country; go on a night drive for a chance to spot rarely-seen nocturnal creatures.
Days 8 – 10: A Luangwa Safari
A similarly flexible schedule awaits you in the South Luangwa. Set on the river in a private game management area, Luangwa River Camp offers guided walks and river cruises with morning and afternoon game drives in a wildlife-rich region of the South Luangwa National Park. It is an area known for its rewarding game viewing but there is also the chance to do some textile shopping and visit a local community. Each of the five suites at the camp is discreetly positioned for private views and you are welcome to have dinner for two on your deck.
Day 11: The Journey Ends
It is an early breakfast and departure from Luangwa River Camp as you first have a 4X4 transfer to Luangwa’s airstrip in the local town of Mfuwe. You pass through several villages on the way, and the flight itself is only just over an hour, bringing you to Lusaka for your onward connection and the end of this tour.
