Itinerary

Day 1: Settle into your Safari
It’s an easy start to this tour: located close to Dar es Salaam Airport, the Southern Sun Hotel offers the perfect place to unwind after a long international flight. There’s a big swimming pool, plenty of sun loungers and time to recharge batteries and check emails if you need to.
Days 2 - 4: Into the Selous Wilderness
It’s Africa’s biggest game reserve and home to a wide range of animals, thanks to the wide Rufiji River over which your accommodation – Impala Camp – stands. Wildlife highlights include elephant herds, big cats, giant crocodiles and pods of snorting hippos – the park is especially good in the dry season when great concentrations of animals can be seen at the river. One of the smallest camps in the Selous Game Reserve, Impala Camp seeks to deliver epic game viewing by 4X4 and boat. You can also head out with your guide on walking safaris to see the smaller side of the Selous – birds, insects and footprints.

Days 5 – 7: Unspoiled Ruaha
Moving between two sites, your Ruaha accommodation ensures a right-time-right-place setting. Good thing too: Kwihala Camp sits in the little-visited Ruaha National Park, home to some of the best dry-season game viewing in Tanzania. All the big cats – lion, leopard and cheetah – are there in healthy numbers as is the highly endangered wild dog and spotted hyena. There are large numbers of elephant and buffalo plus zebra, giraffe, crocodiles and hippo. And with a bird count of over 500 species, Ruaha is also an excellent bird watching destination. A morning highlight is your Bonnet Breakfast – prepared on the bonnet of the 4X4 and served out on the savannah!
Day 8: The Journey Ends
Depending on your travel arrangements, there may be time for an early morning game drive before transferring to the airstrip for your onward connection.
