Days 1 – 3: A Secret Safari
Few people have heard of Gonarezhou National Park; even fewer have visited it. Lying in a remote corner of southern Zimbabwe, Gonarezhou means elephant in the local language and there are several thousand of them there, dwarfed by the park’s enormous baobab trees. Your accommodation is set on a cliff overlooking the Save River. You’ll explore the park on game drives with expert guides and enjoy boat cruises – a great way to see the river’s extravagant birdlife. And you’ll have the place to yourself most often than not as visitor numbers are very low. Back at camp, your tented suite has river views and comes complete with mini bar and private veranda with lounge chairs. It’s Zimbabwe’s genuine hidden gem.
Days 4 – 6: On Safari at the Smoke that Thunders
Your under-canvas experience doesn’t stop at Victoria Falls. Your accommodation is The Elephant Camp, authentically set in a private reserve a few miles out of town. The views are magnificent and you can sit at camp and watch spray from Victoria Falls rising out of the Batoka Gorge. And with regular visits from the local elephant herd to the camp’s waterhole, the game viewing doesn’t stop either. With two full days, you have plenty of time to tick of your list of activities here, whether it’s white-water rafting and bungee jumping or sunset cruises and walking with lion cubs. Staff will arrange any bookings you need and the camp has regular free shuttles into town.

Days 7 – 9: Five-star Hwange
A short hop by air takes you to Hwange National Park and its most luxurious camp – Linkwasha. Newly opened and built to be as eco-friendly and energy-efficient as possible, this beautiful tented camp sits in a private concession within the park. This gives its guests the distinctive advantage of exclusive game sightings as well as spot-lit night drives and walks with expert guides. Hwange is Zimbabwe’s heavyweight reserve and home to a wide range of big Africa mammals, especially elephants, buffalo and lion. There are opportunities to visit local villages to learn a little about life in big game country; you’ll also have the chance to see for yourself on fly-camping sleep-outs – an unforgettable experience.
Days 10 – 12: To the Zambezi
Protecting a great stretch of Lower Zambezi River, Mana Pools National Park gives you the opportunity to add another dimension to your safari: game viewing by boat and canoe. Little Ruckomechi Camp offers a multi-activity approach to its safaris and the mix of water and land game viewing is especially rewarding for wildlife lovers. Bird watchers will tick off many species, and it’s a great area for predators including big cats, crocodiles and the extremely rare wild dog. Newly opened and built to exacting environmental standards, the camp’s location in a private concession means an exclusive experience.

Day 12: The Journey Ends
After breakfast at camp you’ll transfer to a local airstrip for a flight back to Victoria Falls Airport and the end of your safari.
