Itinerary

Overview of Botswana & Vic Falls Family Safari with Wilderness Safaris

A classic safari itinerary that finishes with the thrills of Victoria Falls, this week-long tour is ideal for families with older children.

Combining the wetlands of the Okavango Delta with the grasslands and forests of the Linyanti promises an unforgettable experience with one of Botswana’s top safari operators. You’ll begin at a tented camp in the Okavango Delta, exploring by land and water with expert local guides before flying to a private concession in the Linyanti region for game drives in an area well-known for its big game and big predators. And the safari experience doesn’t stop when you reach Victoria Falls; your luxury accommodation sits under giant riverside trees and overlooks the Zambezi River complete with snorting hippos.

Days 1 -2: The Okavango Delta

Arrive at Maun Airport in Botswana & fly by shared charter to Seba Camp in the Okavango Delta. Enjoy 2 nights on a full board basis.

Set in shady woodland in a privately-managed concession, Seba Camp is the perfect start to the safari. Surrounded by grasslands and a permanent lagoon, you can see wildlife from the comfort of your private viewing deck – elephants, antelope and a wide range of birds. You’ll enjoy day and night game drives, and since Seba Camp is well positioned for the annual flood, it’s a camp that places an emphasis on exploring by water – motor boat and mokoro (canoe) – as well as on foot with your guide. Back at camp there are two double-storey family suites: one can sleep six, the other sleeps five and both have their own plunge pool.

Days 3 – 4: Land of Giants

Fly by shared charter from the Okavango Delta to Savuti Camp in the Linyanti Concession for 2 nights on a full board basis.

Day three opens with mesmerising views as you fly over the Okavango Delta and into a drier landscape: wooded savannah studded with hills and a few twists of water – Savuti. This area of Botswana has an international reputation among biologists and film-makers as the place to go for big predators in action, and it seldom disappoints. Lions and spotted hyenas are the main players in the region but it’s also a land of elephants and buffalo as well as wild dogs, leopard and cheetah. Your accommodation is Savuti Camp, located in a private concession overlooking the waters of the Savuti Channel. You’ll explore the area on game drives and – in season – boating and mokoro adventures. And if you’d like close-up but super-safe views of big animals, spend an afternoon in the photographic hide that overlooks the camp’s waterhole.

Days 5 – 6: The Smoke that Thunders

Fly from Savuti Camp to Kasane & transfer by road to Victoria Falls in Zambia; check in at Tongabezi Lodge for 2 nights on a full-board basis.

There’s some travelling today but you’ll be sitting down to lunch soon enough at Tongabezi and watching the Zambezi River slide by, on its way to thunder over Victoria Falls a few miles downstream. It’s a magnificent lodge with lovely accommodation but there’s lots to do in Victoria Falls: you can take things easy with a tour of the falls, some local shopping and a sunset Zambezi River cruise or you can let your knuckles tighten as you experience one or more of the many adventure activities here such as white-water rafting, bungee jumping, zip-lining or elephant-back safaris. Ask us for information on the best activities for your family at the time of year you plan to visit and we’ll take care of the rest.

Day 7: The Journey Ends

Transfer by road to Livingstone International Airport for the end of the tour.

After breakfast at Tongabezi you will be transferred timeously to Livingstone Airport for the end of the tour and the start of your onward travel arrangements.

Very helpful good suggestions for holiday ideas always available for questions good organising

Excellent service and they supplied good suggestions for our holiday they also organised all internal flights and arranged check in for us so we had no worries while on holiday. We have had a most memorable holiday staying at wonderful places thanks to Sabrina and Safari Online. Would recommend Safari Online to organise your holiday.

Karina was absolutely instrumental to our safari success.

Our experience with Safari Online was excellent. After becoming very frustrated trying to search for a safari destination on our own, we turned to Karina for help and she was a lifesaver.  We had an amazing safari adventure at the lodge–the experience of a lifetime–and are so grateful for her help. We literally couldn’t have done it without her!

Best trip I have ever been on. Highly recommend.

Would highly recommend. Safari online asked questions when booking and were efficient and knew exactly what we were looking for in terms of accommodation and animals were wanted to see. Gave advice on a few little extras with no pressure, which we did and am very grateful which make trip even more exciting. Would definitely recommend booking with them.

An incredibly well organised tour with no hassles whatsoever.

Safari Online understood our needs and was able to present us with sensible options to choose from. It was evident that this tour operator has knowledgable and experienced agents who can arrange a seemless tour. We were provided with a professional online itinary which was comprehensive and easy to use, knew exactely what to expect, and encountered no stumble blocks along the way.

Walter has always been an excellent communicator and has supported us fully

We have been to Africa for 24 of the last 27 years so know a bit about what is involved. Walter has arranged the details for the last couple of years, and has done a superb job. He is always quick to respond and comes up with answers immediately……..no evasive tactics, always head-on!

It was a safari of a lifetime and exceeded all of our expectations!

Our mom grew up in Central and South Africa so we had visited the continent many times. My sister and I wanted to take our teens and husbands to Africa to experience the magic. We had a limited budget but big and specific expectations and by some miracle Walter was able to manage both.
