Itinerary

Days 1 – 3: A Royal Safari

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport & board a domestic flight to Kasese. You’ll be met & driven to the Queen Elizabeth National Park & Kyambura Gorge Lodge for 3 nights on a full board basis. Game drives, boat safaris & chimp trekking.

The Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s heavyweight reserve and one of the most bio-diverse in the world. This tour opens with three nights at Kyambura Gorge Lodge, set at the edge of the park and close to the eponymous Kyambura Gorge where you’ll be led by guides in search of chimpanzee troops and smaller primates. But the park’s trump card is that it’s home to hippo, elephant, antelope and tree-climbing lions too. Game drives are balanced with river cruises and forest hikes to deliver an unbeatable wildlife experience, and the bird watching ranks among the best in Africa. Back at camp you’ll have a pool and sundeck to enjoy as well as private views from your balcony.

Days 4 – 6:

Road transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest & check in at Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge for 3 nights on a full board basis. Gorilla trekking, hiking, & community visits.

Making your way by 4X4, you travel through the park’s Ishasha region in search of the tree-climbing lions. Then the landscape changes – savannah gives way to thick jungle and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park appears. Your accommodation is Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge, an eco-lodge set in the park and specialising in gorilla-trekking expeditions. There are two full days here – one dedicated to your gorilla trek and the other to various tours and adventures in the area. You could visit a Batwa Pygmy community or hike in the forest for butterflies and birds. But the highlight is of course the gorilla encounter – an hour sitting with a habituated gorilla family, complete with watchful silverback and tumbling youngsters.

Day 7: The Journey Ends

Transfer to airstrip & return flight to Entebbe for your onward connection.

It’s a 2-hour transfer from Bwindi Lodge to the Kihihi airstrip and then a 2-hour flight back to Entebbe to connect with your onward flight.
