Itinerary
Days 1 - 4: Ocean views in Cape Town
Clean-lined & radiating modern style, The Clarendon Bantry Bay lies in a wind-free corner of Cape Town’s sunset-facing Atlantic seaboard. Close to the classic beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, it is an ideal base from which to explore Cape Town and beyond. With 3 full days on hand, you can easily fit in the penguins of Boulders Beach and Cape Point as well as the Cape Winelands, Table Mountain and maybe a little retail therapy at the V&A Waterfront. Depending on the season you can go whale watching, swimming with seals and shark-cage diving too. You’ll start the day with breakfast at The Clarendon during your stay and there’s a complimentary high tea; lunch and dinner are enjoyed at local restaurants.
Days 5 – 8: A Private Big 5 Safari
A direct flight to Nelspruit and a short overland transfer takes you to Savanna Lodge in the Sabi Sands. A collection of privately-owned and managed reserves on the unfenced Kruger border, the Sabi Sands has a stellar reputation for Big 5 sightings, most famously for leopards – normally so difficult to see. Savanna is a traditional timber and thatch lodge with most accommodation in the form of tented chalets. You’ll enjoy morning and afternoon game drives as well as guided walks and spot-lit night drives. In between safari activities you can make use of the lodge’s pool and gym or just sit in the shade overlooking local waterholes and watch the wildlife drama unfold.
Days 9 – 13: A Desert Island Hideaway
Benguerra Island lies off the Mozambican coast, surrounded by dazzling white-sand beaches. A national park since 1971, its reefs are packed with marine life and its clear waters play host to migrating whales and whale sharks. Your final destination on this tour is Benguerra Island Lodge, a laid-back beach retreat lying on a sheltered bay and with a reputation for friendly, personalised service. You can do as much or as little as you want here – there’s diving, snorkelling, sailing and horse riding as well as soothing massages and desert island picnics. Seafood dinners are the speciality here, often served under the stars and with your toes in the surf.
Day 14: The Journey Ends
After breakfast on Benguerra you’ll fly back to Vilanculous on the coast and connect with a scheduled flight to Johannesburg and your onward connection.
