Days 1 – 3: Fly to the Samburu
A setting in the more arid north of Kenya gives Saruni Samburu the advantage of offering its guests quite a different experience to the rest of the country. It’s here that more unusual desert animals mix with the more familiar elephants and lions. And it’s here that you’ll be introduced to the Samburu culture; you’ll walk with local warriors and witness their songs and dances. The lodge is one of the finest in the area – small, intimate and very romantic – and as with all Saruni’s lodges, you can expect fine dining, personalised service and plenty of pleasant surprises such as a complimentary massage at every camp!
Days 4 – 6: To the Masai Mara
Most famous for its annual wildebeest migration, the Masai Mara is at its dramatic peak from July to November when the herds have arrived. Game drives with expert guides take you into the heart of the action, exploring both the conservancy and the Masai Mara to ensure the best sightings. But the migration is just a part of this remarkable ecosystem; wildlife is resident all year round and you can expect great game viewing at almost any time. There are guided walks on offer plus optional hot-air ballooning, and your stay would be complete without a fire-lit supper, served out in the bush with singing, red-robed Maasai providing an unforgettable soundtrack.
Days 7 – 10: A Private Beach Retreat
Set a discreet distance from the more popular beaches of Kenya’s Mombasa coast, Saruni Ocean sits on several miles of private beachfront, ensuring complete privacy and relaxation. Its air-conditioned villas all boast ocean views, and staff at the lodge will go out of their way to make sure you experience the India Ocean in any way you want. There’s great diving and snorkelling at nearby marine parks but you may just want to indulge your body and senses with a combination of hammock, swimming pool and spa. Highlights include a dhow trip to swim with dolphins and a candle-lit supper served on your veranda or in a secluded corner of the beach.
Day 11: The Journey Ends
There’s plenty of time to take a last swim or snorkel before your afternoon flight back to Nairobi. A Saruni vehicle and driver will meet you at Wilson Airport and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International for your onward connection and the end of the tour.
Full board accommodation, conservation fees, all internal flights and transfers (including taxes), airport meet and greet, temporary Flying Doctors membership, game drives in 4×4 vehicles, soft drinks, beer and house wine and local spirits, laundry, one complimentary half hour massage per room at all three Saruni properties.Excludes:
