When to go

The best time to combine Moremi Game Reserve, Mababe, and Central Chobe in a single safari itinerary is during the shoulder months of April to May and September to November, when conditions are optimal across all three destinations. Moremi offers diverse habitats with excellent Big Five viewing, Mababe is renowned for its predator action and dramatic floodplains, and Central Chobe delivers thrilling elephant herds and wide savannah landscapes. Together, these months balance mild temperatures, fewer mosquitoes, and rewarding wildlife encounters, making them ideal for a multi‑stop safari.

Winter (June to August) is also a good option, particularly for safari enthusiasts. Dry conditions concentrate animals around permanent water sources, making sightings reliable across Moremi, Mababe, and Central Chobe. Visibility is superb, though mornings and evenings can be chilly, so warm layers are essential.

Summer (December and March) brings lush greenery and calving season, which is excellent for birdwatching and newborn wildlife. Moremi and Mababe are vibrant with high water levels, but dense vegetation makes spotting animals more challenging. Central Chobe can be hot and humid, with wildlife dispersing more widely.

The least favorable months are January and February, when heavy rains and flooding affect accessibility in Moremi and Mababe, while Central Chobe experiences humid conditions and less predictable wildlife viewing.
